Seen throughout the city and on the flag of Seville, NO8DO is a tribute to city's loyalty to King Alfonso X (el Sabio) during an uprising against him led by his son Don Sancho. The 8 represents a skein, or a losely coiled length of yarn, known in Spanish as a "madeja". That translates into "no-madeja-do", or "no me ha dejado", in English "you did not abandon me" during the uprising. |
